The new junior high program of studies for Social Studies in Alberta is set for optional implementation in the 2026-2027 school year.
To help support teachers in this rollout, I have compiled a list of vocabulary terms for the Time and Place unit for grade nine. Since there is a Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) at the end of grade nine, academic vocabulary is important for teachers to intentionally teach these terms.
This vocabulary list (with answer key) is free to anyone who wishes to download a copy.
